Agreement to these terms

By accessing or using Promptr, you agree to these Terms & Acceptable Use. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be at least 13 years old and legally able to enter into this agreement.

What Promptr provides

Promptr is a tool for designing, previewing, reviewing, saving, and exporting shell prompt configurations for supported shells. You may use Promptr anonymously with browser storage or sign in to save configurations to a profile for access across devices.

The service may change over time. Features may be added, changed, limited, or removed, and Promptr does not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

Accounts and your devices

You are responsible for activity under your account, for protecting access to your sign-in provider and devices, and for keeping your account information accurate. Notify Promptr through the privacy and feedback form if you believe your account or the service has been misused.

You may stop using Promptr at any time. Signed-in users can delete cloud configurations or permanently delete their account from their profile. Browser-only data remains under your browser’s control.

Your content

You retain ownership of prompt configurations, private modules, names, descriptions, tags, and other content you create. When you choose cloud storage, you give Promptr a limited license to host, process, copy, and display that content only as needed to operate and protect the service.

Module suggestions may be reviewed, adapted, or used to improve Promptr or its official module catalog without an obligation to implement the suggestion or compensate the submitter. Do not submit content you do not have the right to share.

Generated shell code and safety

Shell configuration can run commands on your computer whenever a shell starts or a prompt is drawn. Promptr’s previews, syntax checks, safety checks, dependency guards, and warnings reduce risk but cannot guarantee that output is correct, compatible, secure, or appropriate for every environment.

• Read generated code before installing or sourcing it.
• Back up your existing shell configuration first.
• Test changes in a disposable shell session before making them permanent.
• Never place passwords, private keys, tokens, or other secrets in a module or saved configuration.
• Confirm that optional tools and environment variables are available on your system.

You are responsible for deciding whether to install generated output and for the effects of running it in your environment.

Acceptable use

Do not use Promptr to create, store, submit, or distribute content that:

• Deletes, corrupts, encrypts, exfiltrates, or otherwise damages files, systems, accounts, or data.
• Steals credentials, captures secrets, installs unauthorized persistence, or performs surveillance without clear authorization.
• Introduces malware, exploits vulnerabilities, or facilitates unauthorized access to a device, account, network, or service.
• Violates law, another person’s rights, or the terms governing a third-party service.
• Impersonates another person, misrepresents its source or purpose, or includes deceptive behavior.

Do not attack, probe, disrupt, overload, scrape at unreasonable volume, bypass rate limits or access controls, abuse forms, submit spam, or attempt to reach nonpublic Promptr systems or data. Reasonable use of ordinary browser and accessibility tools is allowed.

Official modules and private forks

Promptr may provide a curated catalog of official modules. Curated does not mean guaranteed to work in every shell, operating system, tool version, or environment. Forked modules become private user content and may behave differently from the official source after modification.

Enforcement

Promptr may restrict or suspend access, remove abusive submissions, preserve relevant records, or take other reasonable steps when needed to protect users, the service, or third parties; investigate suspected misuse; or comply with legal obligations. Where practical, Promptr will consider the nature and severity of the issue.

Third-party services

Promptr relies on third-party services such as Google, Vercel, and Neon. Those services have their own terms and policies. Promptr is not responsible for third-party services, tools referenced by modules, or changes those providers make.

Disclaimers and limits

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Promptr is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, uninterrupted operation, or error-free output.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Promptr will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of data, credentials, revenue, or opportunity; or damage caused by installing, sourcing, or running generated or user-created shell code. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so some of these terms may not apply to you.

Changes and contact

These terms may be updated as Promptr changes. Material changes will be identified by updating the effective date and, when appropriate, providing an in-product notice. Continued use after revised terms take effect means you accept the revised terms.
